Academy and Select Tryouts Announcement

This Spring has landed the soccer world in an unprecedented situation due to the pandemic. The safety of our players remains our top priority. While every player, coach, and club is ready to be back on the fields, the reality is that we must continue to adhere to the guidelines of our local government and health officials. As such, for the time being, there are severe restrictions on how players can come and train at the fields. Due to these limitations, tryouts would not be an effective process to assess players and place them on teams. In collaboration, Ambush, AFU, Concorde, Georgia Express, GSA, LSA, NTH, Steamers FC, SSA, TYSA and UFA, have all made the difficult decision to cancel our late-May/early-June in-person, formal tryouts.

While tryouts may not be taking place in the traditional manner, teams will still be formed at this time for the 2020-21 Soccer Year. If you are interested in having your child participate on an SSA team, please email us at [email protected] with the following details:

Player Name
Player DOB
Preferred Program Location

Above all else, we want to emphasize that we are committed to a safe and timely 'return to play' schedule, and that, given our size and the depth of our programs, we are confident that we will be able to provide our players, both returning and new, with a soccer experience that provides an appropriate fit for their level of skill and commitment once the effects of the pandemic subside.

Tryouts - General Information

SSA hosts a series of open 9U-12U Academy assessments (to establish a player's suitability for acceptance into the Academy pool) and player tryouts (to assign players to individual teams including ECNL (in partnership with Concorde Fire Soccer Club), 12U-19U NPL, and 12U-19U SCCL) in late May and early June for the upcoming Fall and Spring seasons. In addition, some SSA locations may host Academy winter tryouts for Rec program players for acceptance onto a program for just the Spring season.

Additional Tryout Options

If your child will not be available to attend May/June tryouts, but is interested in joining one of our Academy/NPL/SCCL teams, please email the appropriate Program Director (Under 'Contacts' on the menu bar) for more information.

U4 - U19 Recreational

SSA does not require a tryout for players intent on joining our Recreational program. The initial sign-up period for the fall season is in June and July, while sign-up for the spring season is in December and January. Players not currently registered on a Recreational program at another club are free to register for our Recreational program at any time outside of these months, but acceptance is subject to space being available on a team roster within the requested age group. For more information, click on 'Programs' on the menu bar above and choose the location most convenient to you.

Financial Aid

The SSA Financial Aid Program for Academy and Select players is a program designed to make Select and Academy soccer more affordable for those families with limited means. The amount of assistance is limited each year, and the program awards are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program is based on financial need only, and is not based on playing ability, while the amount awarded will not cover all of the fees due.

Please note that financial aid does not cover uniforms, tournament fees, travel expenses, camps and optional training events.
