Tryouts - General Information

SSA hosts a series of open 9U-12U Academy assessments (to establish a player's suitability for acceptance into the Academy pool) and Select tryouts (to assign players to individual teams including 12U-14U DA, 12U-19U NPL, 12U-19U SCCL, and 13U-19U Athena/Classic) in late May and early June. In addition, some SSA locations may host Academy winter tryouts for Rec program players for acceptance onto a program for the Spring season.

Additional Tryout Options

If your child will not be available to attend May/June tryouts, but is interested in joining one of our teams and has not yet registered with another club's Academy or Select program, please email the Program Director at the location of interest (Under 'Contacts' on the menu bar) for more information.

For Academy and Select, we will still accept unaffiliated players onto our programs in the period after the official Academy assessments and Select tryouts as well as throughout the remainder of the year if space is available. If your child is not currently registered to any club in the state of GA, please contact the appropriate age group program director to schedule an individual assessments. If it is outside of the regular open tryout period and you are moving into the Atlanta area from elsewhere in the state and are signed up with a club currently, you may schedule an individual tryout with us once you have obtained the appropriate documentation from GA Soccer (www.georgiasoccer.org). Individual academy assessments for players who participated in a Recreational program during the fall season are typically available through the winter break. To find out more, please click on the coaching contacts link below to email one of our directors.

U4 - U19 Recreational

SSA does not require a tryout for players intent on joining our Recreational program. The initial sign-up period for the fall season is in June and July, while sign-up for the spring season is in December and January. Players not currently registered on a Recreational program at another club are free to register for our Recreational program at any time outside of these months, but acceptance is subject to space being available on a team roster within the requested age group. For more information, click on 'Programs' on the menu bar above and choose the location most convenient to you.

Financial Aid

The SSA Financial Aid Program for Academy and Select players is a program designed to make Select and Academy soccer more affordable for those families with limited means. The amount of assistance is limited each year, and the program awards are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program is based on financial need only, and is not based on playing ability, while the amount awarded will not cover all of the fees due.

Please note that financial aid does not cover uniforms, tournament fees, travel expenses, camps and optional training events.
