SSA CLUB OVERVIEW - WHICH PROGRAM/LOCATION IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Southern Soccer Academy is a 501-(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing soccer participation opportunities for 3-19 years-old boys and girls of all ability levels and backgrounds through participation in local recreational leagues, and in state, regional, and national-level elite competitive leagues, and for adults in co-ed recreational leagues and pre-professional USL men's and women's programs. The club, in its various forms, has been in existence since 1982 and has locations in and around the metro Atlanta area in Bartow, Cobb, Coweta, Fulton, and Paulding counties, as well as in the Brunswick and Jekyll Island areas in Southeast GA.

The club in its current form came about as the 2012 merger of a number of pre-existing soccer clubs in the metro Atlanta area. The club's membership now exceeds 8,000 players on 600+ teams making it one of the largest soccer clubs in the Southeastern US.

As a not-for-profit community sports organization, SSA has partnerships with multiple City and County Parks and Rec Departments across our locations to be the official provider of soccer programs to their residents, and to permit us access to various county and city-owned-and-managed soccer complexes to host our programs.

Program-By-Program Summary

U4-U19 Recreational Program

The Recreational program is for boys and girls ages 3-19. The program offers local, low-cost, parent and volunteer-coached youth programs that emphasize participation and enjoyment of the sport.

The SSA Recreational Program is for players new to the game and for parents of experienced players looking for a fun, purposeful, and low-cost program in the fall and/or spring. The club has a no try-out/no cut policy and players of all ability levels are encouraged to participate. Registration for the Spring season (March through May games) starts in mid-November and ends late January. Registration for the Fall season (September through November games) starts mid-May and ends late July.

U5-U7 Pre-Academy Program

The SSA Player Development Academy is a soccer development program for U5 - U7 boys and girls running separate to our Recreational program, which aims to accelerate the technical and tactical development of players preparing to participate in the U8-U12 Academy program. Players are selected through an assessment process in January for the February-to-May Spring season and July for the August-to-November Fall season.

U8-U12 Academy (Competitive) Program

The SSA Academy Program is for players looking for a high-quality training and playing environment under the supervision of experienced and qualified staff where an enthusiasm for, and a commitment to, the game is nurtured and rewarded. Players typically go through a 'tryout' assessment in late May for the entire year or in Dec or Jan for just the Spring season, though players may join at other times of the year if space is available. The program is generally regarded as the starting point for players interested in moving into our Select Program teams and playing HS and College soccer in the future.

U13-U19 Select (Competitive) Program

The Competitive program offers elite-level, professional-staff-coached teams dedicated to providing our young players ages 5-19 with the opportunity to participate in the highest levels of competitive youth soccer in the state of Georgia and beyond including the MLS-Next, Girls Academy, NAL, DPL, EDP, NPL, and SCCL leagues.
