Referees

Thank you for giving your time and efforts to refereeing at Southern Soccer Academy. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned veteran, or a newly-qualified referee, we want to make sure that we as a club support your efforts and recognize the vital role you play in ensuring that all our players, parents, and coaches have a safe and enjoyable soccer experience.

To assist you in this process, we have an experienced group of referee assignors in place:

These referee assignors will be your primary go-to resource when it comes to questions about assignments, Game Officials registration and account management, ongoing assessments, and feedback about your experiences.

We also have our Operations Manager, Sean Chamberlain (schamberlain@ssaelite.com), available as a point of contact for general questions about the club, and as a confidential point-of-contact for issues related to coach misbehavior, in support of the referee assignors listed above. 

ASSIGNING PROCESS

SSA uses the Game Officials system to handle the assigning for all regular season and tournament games. If you are a certified referee and interested in refereeing at SSA, please follow the instructions below.

NEW GAME OFFICIALS ACCOUNT

Go to www.gameofficials.net and click on “New Official?”.  Enter "1094" in the Group Number box and in the Access Code box.  Click continue and compete the registration.  Email your local area assignor (information above) once you have competed the registration or if you have any questions.

EXISTING GAME OFFICIALS ACCOUNT

Go to www.gameofficials.net and Login.  Go to My Assignor and click on Join a New Group.  Enter "1094" in the Group Number box and in the Access Code box.  Click Join Group and email your local area assignor (information below) that you have joined our group.

ASSIGNMENTS
Referees are booked (5) days in advance.  Each club referee should set his/her availability in Game Officials weekly or e-mail their ref assignor by Sunday of each week with your availability and any other restrictions in your schedule.  Assignments are e-mailed by Wednesday.  Please accept your assignment promptly in Game Official to confirm you are taking the assignment.  Click here for more information on how to get started in Game Officials.

GAME DAY EXPECTATIONS
At SSA we have an elevated game day expectations.  These expectations include and incorporate our referees.  Please click here to print out our game day referee expectations check list.


REFEREE PAYMENT

  • Referees are paid monthly by check according to their Game Official assignment for regular season play.
  • It is the responsibility of the Center Referee to post the score of each of their games in Game Officials and list any assignment change(s).
  • Any referee that makes a change to their assignment must contact the assignor within 24 hours.
  • Referees contacted regarding cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled game time will not be paid for that particular match.
  • SSA Tournaments pay officials by check.  Checks are issued within one week after the tournament has been completed.

CERTIFICATION AND RECERTIFICATION

SSA also hosts regular classes for individuals looking to gain referee certification, as well as current referees looking to renew or upgrade their certifications. These classes are conducted in association with GA Soccer, the state governing body.

Entry Course R9 Online & Classroom 

The Entry Class for R9 has of two parts, an online session and a classroom/field session that focuses on how to officiate. Both sessions are required. The online session must be done first and can be done at any time. Allow 2 - 6 hours to complete. Register for a class, then log in and begin the Session Tracker. Follow the directions on the screen. Then attend the class you are signed up for. Please note that there will be low-intensity field work at second session, so dress appropriately.

Current Schedule

Adult Player-Returning Referee Online & Classroom 
The Adult Player - Returning Referee Course has four parts. The first is online learning, which is a review of the Laws of the Game. The second is an online test, which you can take with or without a copy of the LOTG. It is almost entirely on the restarts. The third session is a full day in the classroom and/or on the field and will concentrate on the methods by which you apply the LOTG. The fourth is another classroom or field session. There will be by a final exam.

Current Schedule

Grade 8 & 9 Recertification 2015 
The 2015 Recertification course has two online components, one of which is the test on the Laws of the Game. The online learning must be completed before attending the classroom session. All three sessions are required for successful completion. Once you have registered for the course, log in, go to the class (Confirmed reg on the menu), and start the session tracker.
